 As the La Salle Brothers celebrate their 160th anniversary in Asia in 2012, LaSallians in the Land will also share the joy in celebrating the 160th anniversary of the establishment of the 1st Lasallian school in the country – the St. Xaver’s Institution, Penang (year of establishment: 1852).

They came … they educate … they touch hearts. This, in a nut shell summarizes the courageous story of the La Salle Brothers in Asia for the past 160 years. Resolute in their aim to enlighten the ‘downtrodden and poor’ in regions where education was a luxury only for the rich, they set sail for the Far East, a land that was totally alien to them. |
